Accessibility Statement FOR BRIGHTER FUTURES LEARNING PARTNERSHIP TRUST
Brighter Futures Learning Partnership Trust is committed to making its websites accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This accessibility statement applies to barnbydunprimaryacademy.co.uk
This website is run by Brighter Futures Learning Partnership Trust. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
Compliance Status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliance(s) listed below.
Non-accessible content
We acknowledge that this website contains content that does not currently meet accessibility standards. These issues are largely due to the age and structure of the existing website platform.
Known issues include:
- Background and foreground colours do not have sufficient contrast ratio
- Most PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
- Images: We endeavour to ensure that, where needed, we include alternative text for any images. If any images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information, we will rectify this if notified. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criterion.
- Links: We endeavour to ensure that, where needed, we include appropriate use of links and ensure that links are descriptive. If any links are not descriptive, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information, we will rectify this if notified. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criterion.
- Certain interactive elements not fully keyboard or screen-reader friendly
- Heading elements are not in a sequentially descending order
Ongoing Efforts and Future Improvements
We are actively working to improve the accessibility of this website where possible within its current structure. This includes:
- Conducting regular audits and user testing
- Responding to user feedback
- Fixing high-impact accessibility issues when identified
Importantly, Brighter Futures Learning Partnership Trust is undertaking a major project to completely redesign and rebuild all school and trust websites. This programme of work will take place throughout 2025 and 2026, with the goal of ensuring all websites are fully compliant with accessibility standards by the end of that period.
