Welcome to Barnby Dun

Miss Norton

Hello!

My name is Miss Norton and some of you might recognise me as I spent some of my training year at Barnby Dun Primary Academy in the Starfish class with Mrs Cowling and Mrs Brewster. I loved my time here so much, I was lucky enough to be able to come back with my very own classes!

I love teaching and getting to know all the exciting personalities I have in my class and around school and my favourite subject is History, so I'm looking forward to sharing lots of interesting facts with my students. This year, I'm being really spoilt and getting two classes; the Peacocks and the Butterflies!

Before coming a teacher, I completed a History Degree and spent time working with children in lots of different ways, including pre-school and as an Au Pair. I then spent two summers working at a camp in Wisconsin, USA with children from Chicago as their outdoor Skills teacher so I live Forest school and trips to Barnbywoods! I was then lucky enough to go back for a third summer as the camp's Program Manager, which made me realise I wanted to be a teacher.

Outside of school, I love anything Disney and I am easy to spot because I am usually carrying around a giant Minnie Mouse handbag! I also love to travelling with my friends and family and going on adventures in the local area. I have visited lots of different countries and even spent time working in France and USA! I love reading and often drive out to anywhere with lots of trees for me to admire or the beach as I love the calming sound of the waves.
