Welcome to Barnby Dun

Mr Downie

I joined the board of Governors in 2018, became Chair of the Board in March 2019.

I am a civil servant of 40 years standing, having had a number of roles in some of the most challenging areas of government policy, arcoss different Departments. This has included senior in Programme Delivery, Strategy and Design, Capability and Portfolio Management (further details of those are on LinkedIn). I aim to use my acquired skills and experience to build upon the excellent operation and reputation already in place in the Academy.

I am originally from Scotland and have lived in Doncaster for over 20 Years, the last 12 in Barnby Dun. Both my grandsons are school members - one has already gone to Hungerhill and the other is currently in Year 1.

In my spare time I like to travel and also continue to build my collection of vinyl records (which thankfully have come back into fashion and I can reminisce about my days as a DJ).

I am committed to doing all I can, along with my fellow governors, to support the school, pupils and parent in the delivery of all our individual and collective ambitions.
